Another ancient temple once stood here, and tigers are said to have roamed freely over the grounds when it was abandoned nearly a century ago.

The local village decided to rebuild the temple in 1996 and began construction in 2005 which was officially completed in 2016, but like the White Temple, The Blue Temple is still considered a work in progress. Considered a must see!

Our final stop is at Wat Huay Pla Kang, also known as “ The Big Buddha of Chiang Rai”.

This is known for its enormous white statue of Guanyin. The temple sits in a beautiful surrounding on a hill in the rural area of Northern Chiang Mai.

Wat Huay Pla Kang is a mix of Thai Lanna and Chinese styles. On the grounds are a huge statue of Guanyin, a nine tiered pagoda and a Thai temple.

Longneck Karen Village
An optional visit to the Karen Village giving you the opportunity to meet the tribe known to wear long brass rings stacked on their neck hence the name 'longneck'.

Some say the neck rings were worn to protect the villagers from attacking tigers as they typically lived in rural jungle regions and others say it was to make the women seem unattractive to invading soldiers so the women wouldn't be taken away. Take the opportunity to ask them yourself, meet and interact with them in their homes.
